Building Control operates from three offices:

Inspections can be made the same day, if notified by 10am.
Informal pre-application consultations are available on proposals. It is advised that an appointment is made before calling at any of the
above offices, to ensure that a Building Control Officer is available.
A building control handbook is available, giving advice on the full range of building control functions.
Building control also deals with dangerous structures, demolition and safety/advisory aspects with premises licensed as theatres and
for public entertainments.
The Planning Service is split into North and South sections, both based at the headquarters building at County Hall.
The Planning Section covers development control including listed building control. Planning projects and local plans sections are also
based at the HQ premises.
Preliminary advice is generally available. However, appointments should be made in advance, to ensure that an officer is available.
