The Building Control Division forms part of the Regulatory Services Department and is located at the City Hall.

Cardiff has a vast potential for domestic, industrial and commercial development opportunities and the Building Control Division is geared up to respond to the needs of Architects and Designers.

The Building Control Division is especially keen to become involved in your project as early as possible in order that we may provide advice and assistance during the design stage.

All applications can be processed through a development team approach. Joint meetings can be arranged with representatives from the Development Control Department, Highways, Fire Authority, etc, to ensure that the project can progress as smoothly as possible to approval stage.

A number of initiatives are available with a variety of information booklets and guidance notes.

Our Building Regulations inspection service is designed to impact as little as possible on the progress of your project; same day inspections are a normal part of the service delivery, provided you call the office before 10:00 am. All the Building Control Surveyors are contactable through mobile phones.

In addition to the enforcement of the Building Regulations, the division is also responsible for demolitions, dangerous structures and safety at sports grounds. The division is accredited to ISO 9002.
