The Building Control Section forms part of the borough’s Planning Division and is located at the Civic Centre,
Pontllanfraith, Blackwood.
For operational and administrative purposes, the borough is divided into North, South and East areas, with teams of professionally qualified officers operating in each area. Pre-application consultations are encouraged and a flexible approach to development appraisal is achieved. Site inspections can be tailored to developers needs. Same day inspection are the norm, out of hours, weekend inspections are available with prior agreement.
The Building Control Section is also responsible for dangerous structures, demolitions, street naming and numbering and access audits. The Development Control Section, with building control is able to offer a one stop shop service for developers and a co-ordinated service for the public as a result of:
Officers being in the same area teams.
Sitting in the same office.
Sharing the same public counter.
