The Building Control Team has an experienced officer allocated to one of three areas on the Island. They are able to advise on all aspects of the regulations and local conditions. Contact our office before 10am and we can usually arrange an inspection that day. Advice is always available throughout the day on how to meet the requirements of the regulations. The section also deals with ‘Dangerous Structure’ complaints.

Building control is part of the council’s Planning Service which as a whole positively seeks to provide a cost effective service which gives priority to renewing the local economy by protecting and enhancing the area’s economic and environmental resources.

The Planning Service is able to offer a one stop shop for developers and a co-ordinated service for the public and pre-application consultation is encouraged.
